Opera and Firefox are both extensions created by the DSL users, not part of the DSL release. It's basically up to the packager who builds the extension to choose what version is used. Many extensions are built from debian packages, which aren't always current. If you feel the need to use the most current, you could apt-get unstable, or create your own extension. DamnSmall itself has a pretty good selection of recent packages, as long as they are small and fast.
