I've been using the jre 1.5.0 file in the repositiry, it works but its awfully large, it takes up a LOT of ramdisk space. I noticed that the 1.5.01 version on the java web site is much smaller. Is there something in the official DSL version that is not in the 1.5.01 version?

I tried the 1.5.01 version and it seemed to work fine, is there something I'm missing by not using the larger official version?

Good point.

If jre 1.5.01 is much smaller but still functional it should probably be the jre of choice for DSL.

If ramdisk space is an issue, you can always try the *.uci version of the jre extension which uses much less ram.

Now that would be truly remarkable that something actually went DOWN in size.

Ooops, I cpmpletely missed the uci version! I'll have to give that a try. Right now I have the whole thing unpacked to the pendrive and run off that which should use the least amount of memory.

There is one command which is not workng, it is supposed to start a web browser pointing at a certian (determined at runtime) URL. This fails with a message stating the web launch command is not configured (or something like that). I presume I have to set some environment variable or config file to tell it what program to use, but as of now I haven't figured out what to do. When it errors out it prints the URL, I just paste that into dillo and it works fine, but it would be nice if pushing the button would launch the browser!
