After installing gtk2-0705, and firefox-gtk-1.0.4, firefox runs, but I can't cut
and paste text from firefox into some other application, e.g., xterm.

Running firefox from the command line "/opt/firefox-gtk2-1.0.4/firefox", I notice
a lot of these warnings are being spewed:

(firefox-bin:967): Gdk-WARNING **: Error converting from UTF-8 to STRING: Conversion from character set 'UTF-8' to 'ISO-8859-1' is not supported

which occurred when I selected some text in Firefox and did paste (middle-mouse
click) in the xterm target window.
