I run dsl from the cd(toram) and load the java.uci from a zip disk.  The info file says its a plugin for firefox.  Java works fine in Firefox-but,  I am also  able to run the java limewire.uci program-which leads me to think its a full java install.

However, I can't get my favorite backgammon applet to work...

Does anyone know if the java.uci file is just a plugin or if theres a way to get a full java install going on DSL?

Yes, java is the full jre package ..

Chances are, your backgammon app just doesn't know
where java is located...

Look at the menu command for the limewire app.
It may provide you with a method for pathing java's location
at execution time.

[exec] (LimeWire) {PATH=$PATH:/opt/jre1_5_0/bin limewire}

I don't know the name of your app,
but maybe this technique will work for you?

THX!

Worked first try...  I went into the directory the applet was in and typed:
PATH=$PATH:/opt/jre1_5_0/bin java -jar JavaFIBS.jar-and it popped right up.  The " java -jar JavaFIBS.jar" part was the execution command given by applet's creator. :laugh:

So does anyone know how to get java to work with Opera?

OK- I figured that out myself.  tools-prefs-advanced-content-java options,  and then enter "/ramdisk/opt/jre1_5_0/lib/i386" for the path.

Had to restart Opera for it to start working.
