It's boots and searches through USB devices gives a chgrp: operation not permitted error and then flashes and a bunch of text real fast and then i get a blank screen.

Motherboard Asus A7V8X
Athlon 1800 XP
1gb ram

Seems to load fine till I get to this point. Im not sure of the error since it scrolls so fast.

EDIT: By the way this is a pendrive straight from DSL.

I tried booting the cd that came with my pendrive and DSL forgot to put anything on it so its blank. This is really starting to bother me. At the moment I feel like I wasted $60

USB booting can be tricky unless your BIOS supports it and it is setup properly.

Enable USB booting.
Enable USB keyboard emulation.
Plug the USB drive into the rear USB ports on your computer.
Get the latest BIOS version from the motherboard manufacturer.

Finally, for this MB there have been some problems with the graphics support.  Try typing:

fb1024x768

at the BOOT: command
