The solution is simple.
Boot from your USB pendrive.
Use the mydsl gui to download the extensions to /tmp
Open the emelfm file manager as super user
Go to /tmp and copy the extension files over to /cdrom
The next time you boot up your USB pendrive, these extensions will automatically be loaded.
You will need to use the DSL Backup/Restore process to save the samba and VNC configuration files once you have set up your custom configurations.
