so i was wondering is it possible to have a floppy disk that forces the computer to boot from a usb flash drive? thx

That is called making a boot floppy. You install DSL on the usb drive, and then make a boot floppy telling the computer where DSL is.

(right click on the desktop, apps, tools, make a boot floppy, make a USB boot floppy)

I have the same problem with my computer BIOS. I can only boot from the floppy drive, the cd drive, or the hard drive.
