I just got the DSL pre-installed on a bootable 256MB USB 2.0 pen.
The initial screen comes with the choices of <please enter or F2>
I press enter:
scanning usb devices... done
Looking for DSL image /dev/scd1
Can't find knoppix file system sorry........
#knopixx#

Why point to the cd instead of to the usb? Where do I change the configuration and how do I save it so next time I do not have to repeat it.

BTW it load perfect from the CD.

TIA

It most likely is that the USB install is in error. Boot with your CD and reinstall to USB.

Also, check your system BIOS to see if it's set to boot from USB.

It is shameful that you choose not to listen.

Onikage, thxs for your reply. I found the cause and it was not obvious.

1. If F2 and then <expert> the IPL proceed ok without almost no intervention (?)

2. I look into the database and many other users have the same problem.

3. In my case was in the BIOS. My Bios has a boot order which I usually have it set  up as:  firstdevice: floppy  secdevice: cdrom thirddevice: HD and fourthdevice:disable.
Becasue I was trying also the cdrom dsl what I did is to setup the firstdevice:cdrom and seconddevice: usbzip and thirddevice HD. So after I tested the cdrom I remove it and the boot order look at the cdrom which was empty and then went to the usbzip and load dsl and produce the error of the first message.
Now what I did is to have as a firstdevice: usbzip and everything went perfect.

In summary if you have a similar problem as mine be sure the usbzip is the first device to boot in the BIOS.

Regards,

Onikage,

I was too fast to post. After two reboots then the old problem is back again and now even using the F2/expert does not work. The cd works ok. I will follow your advice and reinstall. I will have to read the whole process because 1. this is my first contact with dsl 2. I have never use usb storage devices.
Well now the weather is nice and I am going to take a brake :-)
Thxs again for your help
