For your computer, your best bet is to use DSL version 2.1b
With the right bootup command, it will talk to a SATA hard drive and might even work out-of-the-box with your sound system.
If not, you would then install the alsa.dsl extension from the mydsl repository.
However, if you want to keep your existing version of DSL (2.2 or 2.3 I assume), you can download the alsadebs.dsl extension from the repository and follow the installation instructions in the INFO file.
