On one PC in particular, it was a 50/50 chance of getting the can't find knoppix,
dropping to a shell, yada yada.

What seemed to help (so far 3 conseq successfull boots, w00t) was to use the
"dsl waitusb" command at bootup prompt. I also had to ensure that I enabled
USB Legacy Keyboard and mouse settings in the bios.
