I have installed DSL to an USB-stick, and it works fine..

But sometimes, when I am running Windows (2000 or XP) and I  connect the USB-stick. Windows tries to start DSL, and crashes!! (blue screen of death)

Is there any way to fix this? (other than disabling autorun?)

I am using USB-HDD installation of DSL (not embedded DSL)

i suspect buggy usb hardware. the windows 'autorun' function should not try to boot the pendrive but to execute the actions specified in 'autorun.inf' or generate an action out of the filenames found on your pendrive.

I think it has something to do with the "Create new program window" alignment in MS Windows.

Normally, when you start up a program in MSWindows, the new window appears in the center of the user's workspace.  But if there are multiple windows already open, MSwindows will then try to launch the new winddow slightly down and to the right of the last opened window.

If the QEMU window is too far down and to the right, it will crash when the graphical screen appears.

At least that's my guess.

If I make the QEMU window appear in the upper left corner, it doesn't crash, or at least it crashes much less often.

But then again, I could be completely wrong.

Wait a minute, are you talking of DSL in qemu or dsl as a frugal install?

That makes a difference!

I have a frugal USB-HDD install, which isn't supposed to run under windows.

Before windows crashes I can see DSL:s boot screen for a second or so...
