I modified a copy of Knoppix so that it would boot from USB. There are directions on how to do this on the Knoppix web site, but one of my PCs is incapable of USB booting. Is there a way I could modify the USB floppy that DSL uses to launch itself from USB on unsupported BIOSes. Knoppix from USB instead? I know DSL is based heavily upon Knoppix, and the USB install basically just puts stuff on the USB disk and rearranges it. With the knoppix USB install, you just do this manually. It should be possible. Does anyone know how? Sorry if this a tad off topic, but I guess remastering a Floppy is sorta on topic.

In general, for bootloaders:
Try fromusb or from=/dev/sdXx

I'm guessing if you only have the DSL boot floppy, you are using knoppix 3.4?

If you are talking about a recent Knoppix, a 2.6 kernel, then I would suggest to take a look at DOS USB drivers together with linld. Google for the Panasonic DOS USB. It is possible to make a single floppy containing only DOS + USB drivers + linld to boot the much larger kernels. See DSL-N forums for a discussion of this.
Where I created such a floppy for DSL-N.
