i'm attempting a boot from a USB CDROM. I get the little penguin followed by a "Can't find the KNOPPIX image"..or words to that effect...and exit to a limited shell.

There are a few posts on the knoppix groups of similar problems..but i can't find a resolution. Anyone got any ideas???

Interestingly, DSL-N boots perfectly, but i want to squeeze onto a 50Mb CD.

afaik, the initrd in dsl iso image doesn't search usb by default...  although you could do that by using the dsl-embedded one instead, you could also try fromusb or fromhd=/dev/sdXx

tried those boot flags..still no good.
Does anyone know what DSL-N does different during boot to detect USB CDROM's?? I'd like to try an port that behaviour to DSL.

It might be because DSL-N uses the 2.6.x kernel, while DSL uses a lower version.

and/or maybe DSL-N has the driver information included by default for these USB CD-ROMs
