it works with the bios in pos start with usb-cdrom.

its ok with external usb cdroms and dvd and with a noname usb-to ide cable (it works with hd , cdroms etc)

these pc dónt have diskett but if you make with nero a cd copy of image diskett bot-usb works with a pen-drive.

Hooray!! After a couple of days' worth of attempts, following advice in here and in the DP, I got DSL working on a Kingston 512MB *Full Speed* - no fancy dan stuff. On two PCs. The main problem I discovered after much frustration was the drive's geometry - sfdisk revealed confusion over the CHS values. The drive reports 1011 cylinders (and warns you if you try & override it) - that config just didn't work, even when set by the native DSL USB-HDD install option. But the USB-ZIP option split the drive into boot and the rest, with a boot part of 50C it seemed that both PC BIOSes were happy. Non-system disk errors, boot failed, system boot failure all went away and it started booting. I just used the liveCD to get started. Key on both computers was on-screen detection of the drive during POST.

I'll do some more testing and see whether the boot partition size really was to blame for my problems. Huge thanks to the author of the drive geometry doc, it was the big insight that enabled me to solve the problem.

Excellent stuff, now to dive into the pocket-sized world of DSL!

Key: Kingston KUSBDTI 512MB (Full-Speed 2.0)
Mobo1: Asus A7N8X-X, BIOS 1009
Mobo2: MicroStar MSI-6714, BIOS 00
Boot Device USB-ZIP on both

Im sorry its an mmc card not sd (however these are usually interchangable), all 64 meg, with usb connection to a via MII, and if you are going to tell me im lying, go ahead.....dude!
