I now got DSL to boot correctly using the toram setting.  Is it possible to mount the same USB drive to read all of my files saved on there in the root directory of the drive? (In other words I want to read the files that I save on my USB drive using Windows).

yes. it is possible.

mount /dev/device /mnt/mntpoint

'man mount' for more info.

in DSL its actually possible to just type 'mount /dev/device' and not a mountpoint.

what is your device? i dont know. its wherever it says it is booting from when you startup, such as /dev/sda1 or /dev/sdb1.

you should be able to use the mount-app slit in fluxbox (on the bottom right of your screen) to mount anything that it detects.

enjoy.

Thanks but I understand that already.  Its just that when I try to mount the USB drive (sda1) that DSL is booting off of, it pops up the error message that it isn't ready or that its in use.  I thought since DSL booted of the ramdrive (i'm using the toram mode), it should be able to be mounted.

Try this:

Open up Emelfm file manager

Go to the /mnt directory

Right click on the sda1 directory and choose "Mount" from the menu.

Also, if you are booting from the USB drive you should boot with:

dsl toram frugal

This might help.
