Hi,

Using a very new Dell PC that supports booting from a USB device,
and using a 512MB HP DriveKey memory stick bought today,
and after following the 'usb keyfob' instructions to the letter
(http://fuzzymunchkin.dyndns.org/tdot/usbkeyfob/index.php)

(Using the PTEDIT32 tool to set the type)

I get.. nothing.  It doesn't boot.  PC gives the error that the device is not present or not bootable.

I used " dsl-1.5.iso " that I downloaded last week.

What could be wrong?

I thought the instructions were extremely long and involved..  Is it really this hard?

Cheers,
Chanchao

The Winimage method dies technically work, but most users are not happy with the result, because it does not work properly.

So TeamDSL does not reccommend this method.

We provide easy to use scripts on the CD.

In the menu, choose Apps >> Tools >> Install to USB Pendrive and select either USB-HDD or USB-ZIP mode, based on what your bios supports.

Thanks, I'll try that.  The reason I had to go the direct route was that I don't have a CD-burner...  But I'm sure I can find one somewhere.

This is all very strange... I have tried the install scripts from within the DSL liveCD, I have tried the Winimage/IsoBuster method...Nothing seems to work. My BIOS supports booting from USB-HDD, my USB Key is a 128MB PNY Attache, and no matter what I do, it will not boot. I also tried the winimage-isobuster method on a 128MB Lexar JumpDrive Elite...It actually booted up, but a few seconds later it went into Kernel Panic... Any way, any help would be appreciated...

I use DSL, SLAX, and Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon. Sometimes XP, and hopefully NEVER Vista.
