I get an error mounting my pen drive regardless of what i put in for the "device name" field, this leads me to assume that this is the variable that is causing me trouble, as I dont know what this means.

Is it refering to the name of the pendrive as I gave it in windows? The drive letter? The usb port? Any sort of help would be appreciated.

device name should be just *sda*. if you r using a usb-flashstick.
but if you type that, it would automatically erase all your stuff in your pendrive. i don't think it would create another partition.  ?.
