Hey guys...I'm trying to boot DSL on a Motion M1200 tablet pc (with a fresh blank hard drive) from a Lexar 128MB Jump Drive.  So far, I've managed to get past it hanging up on the SCSI probe by using the cheat code dsl noscsi.  However, I keep running into the error message "Can't find KNOPPIX filesystem, sorry.  Dropping you to a (very) limited shell."

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Is it because my hard drive is blank?  Do I need another cheat code?  I'd appreciate any help you all can give me.

The USB mass storage device is accessed as an emulated SCSI device.  So it might be that "noscsi" will prevent your Jump Drive from being found.

Another option is to boot from livecd or maybe try a "poormans install" to your hard drive using another OS like FreeDOS or Win98, etc

Finally, it may be possible to find help on your computer an Linux or KNOPPIX by using your model number and KNOPPIX or Linux for a Google search.

Sounds like a no-win situation.  I don't know of any way to get around the following problem without using the noscsi cheat code: Probing SCSI... aic7xxx.o [freezes].  If it turns out that noscsi is what's preventing the knoppix filesystem from being found, then it sounds like there's no solution unless there's another code to circumvent the earlier freeze.

As far as the liveCD goes, I don't have a CD-ROM drive.  I'm not sure how to do a "poormans install" or if it can be done w/o a CD-ROM drive.  And the only solution I could find on Google was using dsl noscsi root=dev/sda1, which resulted in the same "can't find knoppix" error message.

Any other ideas or posssible solutions?

Ok I booted DSL with the CD and installed to the pen drive via both ways (Zip and HDD) but only the HDD worked except after it scans the usb devices it starts looking for the cd and then says it can't find the knoppix file system and drops me to a "very limited shell" just like the error in the messages above. If it installs to the usb drive why is it looking for the cd? Is there a way to fix this?
