Hi everybody,
dsl-2.0-embedded.zip - I'm using this zip file for QEMU, but it uses the older 2.4.x version of the kernel. I would like to upgrade the kernel inside this zip file.

Please let me know how i go ahead and dothis? i read thru the
knoppix remastering, but it gives the details about the .iso image and not the embedded zip file. Any pointers/help will be highly appreciated.

Also, can anybody tell me the root password for this image on zip file ??  :)

Regards

Your question is not stupid. Simply no one has the answer at the moment. I posted twice so far but no answer, that doesn't mean my questions are stupid ( or are they?).

About the kernel, the 2.6 is considerably bigger and has a lot of dependencies.
I guess: if you installed DSL on the hard drive and the upgraded to apt-get then you could upgrade the kernel yourself, but on embedded it'd be a pain the bottom.

Besides, the rule is, don't mess with the kernel if not absolutely necessary...

The embedded zip contains the same images as on the cd together with the qemu software and support files. There is really no difference in the remastering process. There are tons of sites and resources to guide you through the process. There is a fourm thread here, the knoppix.net site, and even an O'Reilly book. It is not a trivial task. I would suggest that you should be an advanced user to attempt such a task as a kernel replacement.
