dear cbagger01,

thanks you for your suggestion.

however, i cannot get openoffice to load
and open properly in dsl embedded.

i downloaded it from mydsl extensions.

perhaps openoffice works in other
dsl versions, but it does not seem
to work in dsl embedded.

i am grateful for any suggestions.

regards - kenzo

Just a suggestion, this may not be the problem,
but if you are not already doing so, try loading the gnu-utils
prior to loading Abiword.
This is assuming that you are using the older Abiword and not
the one requiring GTK2.

Glad to help, I recalled some libfreetype and pango
issues from a very long time ago, and ke4nt1 put them in
gnu-utils.
The problem probably wasn't happening only with .doc
format.

regards,

I thought gnu-utils was the busybox replacement?
Why is pango and libfreetype in there?
Why is there no reference in the Abiword .info file stating the requirement of gnu-utils?
Some of us need to be able to run Abiword on low memory computers and cannot afford the inodes/memory to load gnu-utils and Abiword!
Will someone fix this please!
