Hello,

I downloaded the zip file to see what it was. I'm wondering if that's the Live CD version.
Then I didn't know how to burn both the iso file and the rest on a writeable CDrom.

I've learnt how to burn an iso file but if you choose the option "burn an iso" I'm not sure how you can add other files to be copied as well on the same CD, since they arent' at all the same kinds of file.

Maybe I'm making things more complicated than they are, but anyway what is this embedded version ?

Many thanks in advance,

OK,

The "embedded" version of DSL is a way to run DSL inside a computer that is booted up and running MS Windows.

Embedded uses a program called "qemu" which is a PC emulation program, similar to commercial products called Virtual PC or VMWare.

The qemu program will create a simluated IBM compatiple PC (with 128MB of RAM, a Pentium Pro CPU, a Cirrus VGA video card, fake CDROM and floppy drive, a NE2000 network card, a 60MB hard drive and a Sound Blaster sound card) that runs inside a window on the desktop of your real pc.

DSL is then booted from the fake CDROM drive and is run inside your virtual PC.

You need a powerful computer in order to do this. I wouldn't recommend doing it on a computer with less than 1.5Ghz CPU or it will run VERY slow.  Even on a fast computer it runs much slower than DSL performs when booted directly via the real computer.

If you want to make a bootable CD-R disk from your DSL embedded zip files, open a CD burning program like Nero and choose File -> Burn CD Image , or Recorder -> Burn CD Image and then select the dsl.iso file for burning.

Then reboot your computer and set your BIOS to allow booting from CDROM drive and you are in business.

Many thanks for your reply, cbagger01.

oh my computer would be much too slow for such an experiment in "embeddiment".

I actually burned the iso file from that archive and I'm ready to try out DSL !

Cheers
