Thanks for the words of caution, roberts. I watched the files associated with firefox and I can see what you are talking about. I did not notice any activity within /opt at least from what I was doing. Is there any advantage to having /opt on another partition? Does this save ram space? My computer is maxed out at 256 meg.
I did a new frugal install to hda1 and put mdsl, opt, and restore on hda2. Hopefully that will extend the life of my cf. It is still very fast with this configuration.
