I tried using xmms inside dsl-embedded and the sound is very choppy. Any ideas for this? I'm on XP Pro with a very fast PC, so that shouldn't be the problem.

Try Right-Clicking on XMMS and choose:

Options -> Preferences -> Options

Then select "Use Realtime Priority when available"

and then APPLY and OK

Then exit the XMMS program.

Then open a terminal window and type

sudo su
xmms &
exit

and see if it helps.
