I would suggest some nice packages to add to dsl repository..
-streamtuner first of all. is nice and useful really.
-gaim or a similar (what if i need to connect to yahoo or jabber?)
-battery monitor for laptops
-graveman
-wifi radar or similar
-thunderbird
-gpart
-AMULE or a similar emule clone or at least mldonkey

that's it :D

also a nice saving feature emulating the one used in puppylinux, might not be original, but would damn boost the bootup.

Most (if not all) of those programs are available through the MyDSL Extension Panel (located on the desktop).

Though, something to speed up the boot process would be nice.

since dsl is debian based is that possible to add synaptic and work out a nice desktop version by that?
i really couldn't find amule, an updated gaim (not that one that is available, that doesn't even connect to yahoo), wifi radar, and the battery monitor is not working correctly (tells me i have 3h30m when i am already low batt)...

probably you did not notice that in the default menu you get a "install sinaptic" option. did you?
the solution to your problem can start there..

remember to enable apt-get before doing so.

:)

>(what if i need to connect to yahoo or jabber?)

You could always use naim to connect to a bitlbee server (IRC to other network gateway).  Server list is here.

What'd bee even cooler (sorry!), is if DSL came with one preconfigured to start up with the irc client - one interface for all you IM needs (which is of course what Jabber purports to do, so DSL should just get on the xmpp freight train.)

Bitlbee is pretty tiny, installed Debian packages ~ 1 Mb.

I seem to recall this being suggested before (don't recall , either here or mabye over at the feather linux forums (what's up with feather these days?). But, they just released bitlbee 1.0. So, mabye we could take another look?

Respectfully,
