I think that DSL is nearly there.  I got into computers so that I could record my own music.  I started with a 486 ms windows 3.1 and moved up to win95 then 98, when KNOPPIX 3.3 came out.  It amazed me that such a small distro could be so user friendly, but the single click on the icons scared me.  I moved up to winme and then to winxp and always found the system had something wrong with it that I couldn't fix.  During this time, I experimented with different Linux distro's, but always found that they quickly became complicated, and I had to type something in.
I had always heard about 'bloat ware',  I often wondered about why programs had to be so big.  Then I discovered DSL, I think it was the 1.3 version.  The first thing I noticed was that it was fast, real fast. The next thing I noticed was that I had to double click the icons, I had a chance to think before executing something.  The more I used DSL the more I was blown away by what it could do!
 *****MY DSL WISH LIST*****
everything should be point and click, for new users and
there must be an easy way to uninstall programs rather than reboot.
It may also maybe good to have the default at startup as double click, as to not scare off window users.

I like the analagy of the three elephants, Two big ones and a little one.  Could the elephants be representing operating systems?  Is the little one DSL?

Forever small, forever beautiful.
thank, ubl

Many might read this and think you're being a little sentimental, but you have a point.  Linux is not trying to be like Windows.  Linux is trying to show the world that there is a difference.  If Linux is to grow like Windows, it needs to show the world that it’s “easy” to use… yet… Different.

Thanks for you post.  I dare others to reply :)

I'm a Helpdesk support, so i'm looking for tools to make my job simple.
At first i use LiveCD of many distro but the problem is they always cannot boot properly also there are no Cd-rom in every Computer in my office but they have USB.
So i turn to USB booting, but some of computer doesn't support USB boot. god knows how hard i tried to make my dream come true , then i try DSL ..it amaze me so much
1. can be boot from USB with Floppy
2. i can add more program
3. and yes it runs really fast dan powerfull

My wish is that DSL can add\remove program

Over the weekend I've given my 3 sisters and 2 cousins LIVE-CD ( 5 total) that I made (with GAIM of course ! ).

I've gave them a brief tutorial and the fact that they could leave their PC on for days or weeks connected to the internet and no need to be afraid of viruses because of the default read-only ( aka  DSL TORAM).   Majority of them just want to surf the internet and not save anything.. so DSL is the perfect solution for them :)    I've also gave them tutorial on how to save to usb thumbdrives.

My wishlist..

1) to be able to set our own desktop preference (aka Wallpaper) thru remastered LIVE-CD  ( most of the time I just want to "DSL TORAM" but I want my favorite wallpaper to come up "tuxVxp".  Currently i would have to do the "backup/restore" to achieve this)

2) to be able to activate usb devices (plug-and-play) when you've already booted up but forgot to DSL dsl=sda1 while booting up.

Dear all,

My wish list toward DSL progress is to have my computer compatible to the external modem, more specifically - the win modem.   Of course, with the auto detection function, once we start up DSL on our computer.

I am sure that 'most of DSL users and those who are interested in DSL' in many countries have problem to possess the 'real' modem.

Thank you for reading and wish it comes true.

Regards,
Chusakdi
