Yet another crazy idea of mine:

I somehow feel in debt with DSL and free software in general but I don't feel yet like putting money into it. For the moment I preffer to involve myself and help here and there as I see fit.

Thinking about many ideas that bubble within my head I thought of several crazy ones and I'd like to check this one:

I don't know John personally, but just for being the heart and head of this project if he ever wants to spend some holidays  (a week or so) in Madrid I'd be glad to host him and his wife, girlfriend or whatever in my flat. As long as he asks me in advanced and doesn't start breaking my furniture or giving free copies of my homekeys away in the streets I'd be glad to save him the hotel's money. It'd be a way to generate value without summoning a hole in my pockets and if other users offer the same or something similar he'd be able to enjoy travelling around Spain or Europe with a very scant budget.

The idea is exportable to other projects and if the example spreads out it could become a nice way to create and/or enforce personal relationships in the community as well as an incentive for contibutors to step forward.

Who knows? Maybe some user in Berlin turns out to be the manager of a car-hire or another one's parents in Caracas runs a scuba diving club and they'd like to offer free dives or discounts in low demand times.

Under certain circumstances I could extend my offering to free tourist guide (me)/car/motorbike hire-lend. I'm thinking of holidays because it seems to be quite universal application but other ideas are welcome.

So, everybody

- Do you have further ideas of alternative donations?
- Would you be willing to offer compatible holiday assets to John/other main contributors/DSL users?

DSL and Linux/FS in general has a huge user base. This could possibly grow into a huge voluntary driven travel agency.

P.S.: John, if you and the main contributors fill in your personal interests in your user pages it would help us think of other possibilities. :-)

Similar ones:

- Do we have among the audience or know party organization experts that could organize something like a high school party to raise funds for the project?

- Do we have (or know some friend that we could ask a favor) any marketing expert here?

- Any other apparently non-interesting asset (for the DSL project) that we could use as payment in exchange for an interesting one from somewhere else?

- Any old things at home that you/we could sell on e-Bay to raise funds?

- Any other expert skills that we would put to work directly or indirectly for DSL?

I hereby call everybody willing to do something and maybe not knowing what, to get a site account and fill in the personal data so we can search for zombie-assets.
