Hi kerry!

Yes, I understand that it is bigger (It takes up 9977 kb but seamonkey is much bigger with it's 13486 kb) but it doesn't depend on GTK2. It is already found in the mydsl repository compiled with GTK1 and I'm using it now. I just find it sad to have the old firefox and never using it. In my eyes it is a waist of precious space. I wouldn't mind that it would be dropped in favor of other useful things either, not necessarily firefox 2.0 even if I would prefer that.

Have fun,
meo

I don't find that a good idea, firefox2 has serverls "high levels bugs" incluiding remote command execution. Indeed, nobody should use firefox 2 until it get patched.

Hi carlosfferry!

That might be so, but I think the advantages are bigger than the possible disadvantages. The Firefox 1.0.6 that comes with DSL doesn't show certain webpages correctly and that is one of the main reasons I don't use it anymore. And behind a firewall using DSL-embedded on a CF-card I feel pretty safe with Firefox 2.0.

Have fun out there in cyberspace,
meo

Hello everybody,

my plan is to use a PXE based DSL as a browsing station for guests and friends.

So what do I need:

An up to date browser (firefox 2.0)
Plugins (Adobe Flash Player)
PDF-viewer
An easy way to listen to CDs (xMMS does not find my CDs, no idea why ...)
May be an ICQ client
May be a way to listen to internet radio (but I have no clue, how I find radio stations that support xMMs ...)

Nothing will ever be saved on that machine, so security is not a big issue in this case. My guests can check their mail, news or the weather forecast ...

So I vote for firefox 2.0

Regards

Rigas
