I was thinking over what apps are missing from the MyDSL Repository this morning and there is not a usenet, news reader program.

Also might be able to use an RSS agent or what ever you call it that gets news feeds.

How about a dsl for syncing Palms?  I don't have one, but might be getting one.  jpilot is small and gnomepilot might work also.

Would love to have ical so I could keep record of appointments better.  Ical or something similar would be great.

Also, would love to have spell check ability in email program without having to use editor and spell check separately.

You don't really need a seperate dsl newsreader for usenet. Just configure the already installed Slypheed for your preferred news provider and go for it.

Or. of course, you can apt-get install slrn and really drive yourself nuts tweaking it out. IIRC Evolution can also read and post to newsgroups and should be available via apt-get or as a deb package.

I have been trying to get the Java JNN (Talking RSS reader) to work with DSL. It works ok but has trouble saving files on DSL and has trouble being launched from the menu/icon.

If I post the mydsl on my website can anyone help fix it? It is a good app.

Pan appears to be an excellent newsreader - support for yEnc, inline image viewing and many of the features of Gravity or Forte.  It's on Synaptic.
