Let's add this table to bootmenu for "F3" key...I think it's useful for somebody who has old monitor that can't do 1024*768

colour          depth   | 640x480  800x600  1024x768 1280x1024
     256             (8bit)  |  769      771       773      775
     32000           (15bit) |  784      787       790      793
     65000           (16bit) |  785      788       791      794
     16.7 Mill.      (24bit) |  786      789       792      795

Taken from here .

I just type fb800x600 at the prompt to boot 800x600 there's other modes available just hit F2 when you boot. Or am I completely missing your point?

Some cards dont support even 800*600...ok...this was lame
Anoter reson:if somebody would make fbi.dsl module then you don't have to use X to view images...and 256 is not good for photos

fbi = framebuffer image viewer

beakmyn:

The tables are for setting video modes on HDInstalls,
not for neccessarily running from liveCD/poorman's installs.

The "vga=XXX" line in /etc/lilo.conf determines the
bootup mode, since you don't get a typical DSL "boot:" prompt
when using lilo for HDInstalls ..

I'll have to read up on HDInstalls so I don't look like an idiot.
