Currently in 0.9.2 the default filetool.lst in /home/dsl does not include the /home/dsl/.fluxbox directory.  I think this is an oversite since /home/dsl/.fluxbox/backgrounds and /home/dsl/.fluxbox/styles  directories are included.  For most fluxbox settings to persist /home/dsl/.fluxbox needs to be included in the list.

There is a specific reason for this. DSL has grown so fast and in supporing so many devices and installations thereupon. It has to do with persistency, icon and menu management. This area is currently being addressed. In many particular situations adding it back in is not a problem. But for the entire user base of possible installations there are cases that may cause frustrations. I am targetting this for the next release.

It was decided that the ~/.fluxbox could be added to the
filetool.lst file by the end user, if desired, just like so many
other files you can choose from that are /.whatever in ~/  ..
(.xmms , .xchat , .grip , .whatever )

The problem with having the entire ~/.fluxbox is the menu file,
which if backed up on a LiveCD/Frugal/Poormans installs,
You end up booting into a menu with links to nowhere.
( leftovers from your last Xsession )

The slit file doesn't require any backup ,
unless your adding to , or changing your order of loaded devices..

I do backup the init file, and add that line to my filetool.lst,
to make your chosen theme the default one the next time
you bootup into X..
This would be a good option to include in the next build as a default.

So many options, so much flexibility..

I have many different backup.tar.gz's I choose from for
using DSL in a variety of ways, and when booting up from
various sources ( USB, CD, Poormans, etc...  )
Occasionally, I will make a quick change to filetool.lst ,
make a backup to some other location, and afterwards,
rename the backup to something familiar, just to save my work in progress,
and to prevent it being overwritten or restored without forethought.

EDIT : after posting, I see roberts post ahead of mine...sri..
