What could 2.6 offer a 50MB distribution?  And how much bigger is it?

I found some info about running 2.6.x on a low memory system at the basic linux mailing list: http://lists.ibiblio.org/pipermail/baslinux/2003-December/002070.html

Hmm, perhaps that -tiny branch would be good, as 2.6 is meant to be much quicker than 2.4 as well in general.
Perhaps John could wait until Knoppix comes with a 2.6 kernel, and then just use that one without having to compile cloop modules and everything?
