I know version 1.2 is on the cd, that's why I am suggesting version 1.3. Version 1.3 supports RDP5, the main difference is full color support and audio support. You are also able to connect to the console of a Win2k3 server. These are a huge improvements for a lot of people.
Roberts, a RDP client cannot be used to connect to a Citrix server. Citrix is using the ICA protocol instead of RDP. I think it's hardly comparable with remote X server. RDP and ICA are consuming much less bandwidth (about 10kb) and are encrypted by default. You could compare it to NX from www.nomachine.com
rdesktop needs the following libraries:
libc6 (>= 2.3.2-1) libssl0.9.7 SSL shared libraries xlibs (>> 4.1.0)
