Hi again, sorry for not adding detail - I'll try: UBCD is already a 106-meg ISO (compressed to 45-meg so MajorGeeks and Torrent volunteers save bandwidth). You may consider it an ISO of boot images, each of which, has it's own fame - unmodified, but carefully scripted and tested by Victor Chew to launch via CDShell. As he says "it's his hobby.." and the group members support him.
>Wouldn't it be EVEN BETTER to ask if you can join John in developing a version IN PARALLEL with DSL?
I misunderstand 'version' here. My thought is that a current stable DSL, slightly lightened, with a disclaimer to such is all that's warranted to keep things light with no continous developement required.
> Like you said, a DS-UBCD.
Sorry for exuberance, in my zeal to help, I get off-track or desviado.
> I mean, if you just gut the apps out of DSL and reload it with your stuff..
Our stuff on the DSL image? No, it's not our work, our stuff (tech help docs) would just be in a browsable folder on the container CD.
> you are just forking DSL..
No, I talk of a mod to an existing release. Again, that's the reason for this topic. If concensus here is viable, then sure, I will present it to Victor Chew (UBCD lead). It is not my part to ask John, I'm not at that level.
>There has to be a better way than that.
I haven't found it yet and Feather-Linux is 64meg. At present, UBCD includes a boot image with text only web access, but no PPPoE. Clearly, what's there is not in the same league as DSL and would scare many Win-techs to even try downloading missing driver's, etc..
IMHO, adding a DSL boot image to UBCD would be an eye-opener to many Win-tech's and further some Linux experience to otherwise closed minds..
