Any future support for widescreen resolutions?  I have been a long time DSL user and I recently bought a new laptop which has a 17" widescreen (1440x900) display.  It would be great if a future release could support custom resolutions.  Any ideas?

If you can boot into a framebuffer mode that supports these resolutions, you may be able to use the xfbdev server to run XWindows for DSL.

If not, you are probably restricted to using a distribution that contains a normal XWindows setup like XFree86.  DSL uses the kdrive "tinyx" servers, so functionality is limited.

But the xvesa setup script sets something so why do not add 1440x900 to it...modify the xsetup.sh to handle that strange res

I think the Xvesa server can only handle certain resolutions, not all the odd ones that are out there. If you try "Xvesa -listmodes" it will tell you what's available, so if your res is there then it should work :)

Cbagger,

That works.  I don't know why I didn't try framebuffer before.  It stretches everything out a bit but... it works.

Xvesa does not have my resolution, I just checked.

Thank you for the quick responses and suggestions.
