For livecd, you can edit the defaults in
isolinux.cfg

For syslinux livecd, boot floppy disk, or for USB HDD or ZIP installed, you can edit the defaults in syslinux.cfg

For frugal hd/full hdinstalls, you will need to use your bootloader of choice.
