Is there a way to merge from dsl to a full debian installation?  For instance, could one somehow get the deb-config utility that is included in the debian net install?

Although dsl is based partially on debian it is not pure debain. So I dont think this is possible (correct me if I am wrong). You can do a hd install and use apt-get much like debain to install many programs, but I believe some run the risk of breaking dsl if they are related to things such as the xserver.
