Interesting discussion at Silent PC Review Hard to beat the Via box for a small, budget HD/ODD DSL box. (Sorry John & Robert ;-)
Via 1GHz C7 processor, CN700 and VT8237R+ chipset barebones -- USD$ 179.99 + S/H. (Barebone = mobo, cpu, ps, case, no memory or disks.) Case has 1 x 5.25” drive bay and 2 x 3.5” drive bays. Accommodates 1 DIMM (240 pins/1.8V) for DDRII 533/400 MHz, up to 2GB.
