I have little knowledge in this field of computers, so I really have no idea what I'm doing.  I have a very old NCR 3150 laptop that I would like to put DSL on.  It has 25 MHz processor, 4MB memory, at least 80 but no more than 170 MB harddrive(i dont know the exact amount), and a 3.5 in floppy drive.  No CD-ROM or USB, but it does have a 100 pin AT expantion bus, a pcmcia type II slot, a serial I/O port, adn a parallel port.  I would like to spend as close to nothing as posible to get this to work and I was wondering if anyone new how I could, or if it even is, possible to do.

Not Possible.

DSL needs a minimum of a 486DX processor and 12MB of RAM, and is not usable in graphics mode unless you have 16MB of RAM + a swap file/partition.

You might be able to get a very old version of linux to work on this computer, like very old Slackware Linux or maybe something newer like Basic Linux

you could look at zipslack...that is a small dist. of slackware that will run on as little as 4mb memory, you just have to set up a swap file.....you can find the dist. here.  give it a shot....the worst that can happen is you get completely frustrated and throw that quality machine away.......

ps...im not exactly joking about the quality thing.....may not be powerful, or even remotly usefull to any serious degree...but that machine could be extremely fun to play with...
