I've been trying out the mkmydsl to make a new custom cd.  I figure running from a CD would be better than constantly saving changes to my flash drive, plus I have more options if I don't do the embedded selection.

Anyway, when using the make my dsl option, I can't seem to correctly save custom settings like background, icons, bookmarks on mozilla etc.  I can save programs like office.org just fine, but that's it.  I figure I'm using the .filetool.lst incorrectly.  Whenever I make a change I find that directory in emelfm and click "Add2Filetool," then when I'm done with my custom settings I run the mkdsk utility and burn a new cd from the created ISO.  That doesn't seem to be doing the trick.  Any advice as to where I'm going wrong?

Also: I have 1 hard drive on my comp that dual boots XP Pro and Fedora Core 3.  If I run DSL from CD how do I find the files saved on the hard drive?  Do i just need to mount the drive?  Then where do I find it?

Thanks in advance.

You need to make sure that your backup file (backup.tar.gz) is located in the root of your mkmydsl partition (the root of the cdrom)....otherwise use the boot option "restore=<backup partition>".

You can also add your personal configs to /etc/skel, which will automatically add them to /home/dsl when you boot.  However, they will also be added to the home directory of any new user.

Alright thanks - I'm gonna go try and get it all figured out.

I also just wanted to quick apologize - I just saw that this section of the forums isn't for 'help me' posts.  I posted here because this is the forum I leanred about 'mkmydsl' on.  I'll move future questions to the misc section.

Speaking of which, how can I make sure that my burned CD project will be finalized with the CD burn app?
