Topic: wireless network card not supported, broadcom built in amd 64 bit laptop

so i have this nice laptop, amd 64 bit with 2.4 gh. and 1.5 g of ram..

the sound card is not supported nor the wireless. the wireless card is broadcom 802.11 g network adaptor according to windows device manager.

my soundcard is conexant.

does mydsl site have any of the drivers .. the wireless is the most important for now.

Hi,
try ndiswrapper in order to install the winxp driver for your card; or have a look at the wiki in order to get a wlan card working with dsl; or install dsl-n.

i have tried dsl-n with kernel 2.6 but tht didnt work.. i assume that if it was working the card will detect a the network and connect just like windows does ,right ?

does dsl have ndiswrapper in mydsl page ?

how do i use it , i heard tht i have to find the driver for the card in windows then let the program use it "emulate" i guess the driver to work on linux using api to translate between windows and linux instruction.

help and suggestion is very appreciated.

grrr,

ill just wait tell those drivers r part of the linux kernel.

now do i have to do all the iwconfig thing is i had the driver ?

i mean if i go to barns and nobels and they have free wireless connection wouldnt my linux detect and connect to it auto or let me know at least like windows ?

do i have to do all things by hand here ?
