If you are using the liveCD, press F2 when you see the "boot:" prompt to see a semi-complete list of boot options. At the boot prompt, you can type in dsl home=hda7 to have it created and mounted as your home. It will probably still look like /ramdisk/home/dsl in the filesystem, but you can look in /mnt/hda7 to see if your home is shown there as well. If changes to one affect the other, then you know it's working. You will need to enter the boot option every time you boot the liveCD
If you're using frugal instead of liveCD, dsl home=hda7 will need to be added to your bootloader.
