I have installed the CUPS dsl and have it working with my printer (HP Deskjet 5740)  as both a local and network printer.  However I am using a ppd filter that is not designed for this particular printer.  This actually works fairly well but there is a noticable difference when printing graphics.  I did find the correct ppd file on the web but it works with foomatic-rip and another perl script.  I have attempted to install the scipts following the instruction provided but still cannot get the ppd filter working.  I am not a perl programmer but understand enough to try and set the debug flag in the script.  However, this did not produce the expected log file.

I am wondering if anyone has experience with foomatic ppd files and if there there is some piece I am missing or I have not configured correctly. Thanks.
