I am testing this RC1 on many systems.
First failure is :  (boots ok, but cant find Net chip
Asus ,  A7V600 , K7 XP athlon , 512mb, 200gb-hdd + Radeon 9600,
the on board Net chip is , 3com 3C940  1giglan.  (not broadcom)
boots but cant find card , so says system + NET, netconfig, proc.
-------------------------------------------------------------
system 2:
Syntax K7 SV266ad  VT8367,8235, with netgear fa310tx
no ide drives, but has 3 scsi x15 drives, and AHA-29160  card.

fails too boot.
says< xauth giving up, no such file , etc,  errno2
---------------
how ever my epox EP-7kxa with same Scsi setup works perfect. this release 2rc1
, any questions or more testing by me , contact.
yamahog66@yahoo.com
---------------------------
PS: all the Dells (new) at work work perfect with this release.
I am making a list of the good systems and the bad.
just based on clean boot, to DT and good Net connections.

TOPIC < BUGS, issues, problems.
Looks like the only weak spot ( for connectivity) is NIC Lan chips.
baseline:all systems stable under Linux 10.0 RC1.

My test experience:
simple test, boot, click Firefox, and browse web with no problems.  ( assumes good dhcp server, on each subnet)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fails:
Sys: Syntax K7-SV260ad (new) , with netgear, FA310
Via based, VT8367/8235 with 3 scsi hdd, and AHA-29160 scsi host adaptor. ( boots on other

29160 systems.) all volumes are fat32
sure kernal load, fails at xauth givingup, no such file, etc, errno 2

---------------------
fail2:
Asus A7V600, KT600, FSB400 VT8237 basted and 3C940 lan.
boots ok , but unknown NIC, when examined by NET config applet
400mb PATA , 512mbDDR, Radeon 9600,
This is a very popular , high end mobo (600 class).
I suspect this release does not support the 940?
---------------------------

good DSL systems.
tests, boot, run firefox and cruise web , no problem

-------------------------------------
Dell , OptiPlex GX280, I82801 /915G based desktops
with Broadcom, 57xx Glan NEtxereme LAN chip.
perfect !

-------------------------------------------------------
Chainteck , 7NJL3/4
Socket A AMD sempron 2200, XP 266/333/400MHz FSB, ATX,
NVIDIA, nForce2 400/nForce2 400 Ultra 400 + MCP
with RTL-8139.
boots and runs perfect with Firefox.
--------------------------------------------------------------
old Asus P2b with P3-500mhz  BX chip set mobo
boots and loads perfect, with , 3c509b  3com card.
works great.

-----------------
Epox EP7KXA with 29160 and 3 SCSI HDD, boots ok and finds 3c905b , ok.

Kinda looks like DSL-2.0 will be quite a challenge to keep in the 50mb range. ??? hope that part of it wont change. :)

I'm testing DSL-2.0 with a laptop: ACER Aspire 3003NLCi, AMD Sempron 3000+ 1800MHz. I got this message:-

insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.31/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/apm.o: init_module: No such device
insmod: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.31/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/apm.o: insmod char-major-10-134 failed

you may have got this message because your laptop uses the ACPI power management standard which supercedes APM.

Use the boot parameters apm=off acpi=force
then modprobe ac, battery, button, fan, processor & thermal

If you don't get any errors then your laptop probably uses ACPI, the wmacpi dockapp will work to monitor battery life and you can manually echo power saving settings to /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/performance etc
