Hi guys!
I have some old PCs at university in our student's association and i heard somewhere about dsl and i thought i could try it. But i have absolutely no experience with linux or unix systems, only windows.
I got stuck already at the boot, i can get the command options with F2 and F3 but thats all. The hdisk is formatted FAT32.
What i need to know:
-how to format HD so that i can install dsl
-what tools i need to do this
-how to install dsl to HD
-what to do during install
-how to run dsl after install

I kind of need every line i will need to type given to me exactly because i really dont know sh!t about linux.

Is there perhaps an install script that can do the install automatically?

thanks but i already found these helps but i cant use them.
Because: for example it sais:
-"open an xterminal window" (wiki) and i'm like: 'what the hell is that?'
-"create a linux partition with cfdisk or fdisk" but i say 'how do i run either of those'.

You see what i mean, i dont know anything about linux commands and systems. I only have experience with DOS commands.
Please help!!!

If you can successfully boot up on the live CD, then you should have a desktop with a Xterminal icon. Click on this and you're in a xterm window. Then you can run any text commands like cfdisk here. Have you decided what you want your partitions to look like? Are you wanting to do a full install or a frugal install? If you just want to play around, you can just run off the live CD for awhile.

1. Find a linux buddy...remember dont dive in the pool of linux without your linux buddy
2. Remember to bring your Google lifevest...it saves lives
3. Read, Read, Read...before you take the plunge read up on some websites...if you Google for linux..you will find a bazillion sites...

4. When in doubt run a LiveCD b4 installing...you will have plenty of time to install later.
5. Be patient, let me explain:
Learning linux is a long hard fought battle...a few months of small won victories, a long hard row to hoe, but after 3-6 months the clouds will separate, beams of holy light will shine down, the heavens will open up, the angels will sing in one harmonious voice.........and you will "get" linux...after that...thats where the real learning begins, you will begin to see the differences and similarities between the dreaded M$ and Linux...Just dont give up...if you hit a snag, Google, read, search, take a break, then come back..but DONT GIVE UP! We wont give up on you!
