pinned muli-boot multi-hd install - many thanks to all who assisted.
In the end qtparted hda1-ntfs, hda2-swap, hda3-ext. then. low-level format hda1&2 hdc1, hdd1 drives using seagate hard-drive utility from UBCD. then mke2fs linux parts. Then a s hdinstall with no multi-user login and ext2 fs. From that point evrything went rosy....
what a bluddy nice thing this is.
