Hi,

I installed DSL to my hard drive yesterday after playing with the live disc for about 20 mins, Im using an old box so I thought what have a I got to loose..

Here is my issue:

before installing I created some partitions, that are now either wrong ( ie just a mistake) or are unneeded.

What I want to do is completely start from scratch, how do i completely remove every thing and start again.

I know i need 3 partitions for DSL:

1  Primary, bootable, Linux
2 logical linux and swap
3 logical or primary and linux

but what sizes etc? and which one do I choose to do the hd install on.. I'm assuming #1?

thanks

ws

try this:
Howto frugal

Google pdf to html, about creating the frugal hd.
With what partition program did you work? cfdisk?
Just remove the partitions, write new ones, format them and instal again. The howto should explain all.

Recommended for partitions:
- hda1 : between 55 and 100 for DSL "main files" (image)
- hda2 : the rest of your hd, mind the swap, for all the other files
- hda3: the swap, I always use 4 times bigger than the amount of RAM, is not needed if ram is bigger than ca. 512 or 1gig.

Just read the howto, it is very useful.

Ciao,
