Hi there, I'm Tich
I'm new to DSL running it on an old Toshiba Tecra 730XCDT, HD install went swimmingly, i'm not new to linux, but i am new to DSL, and i'm also not great with GRUB therefore...

I'm asking two questions
1. Is the only to extend DSL throught connecting the actually laptop to the net and running the 'Get full GNU utils' thing or is there another way, i love DSL, but i just want to make it my own a bit more, u no, get abiword, get some cool themes, some other office apps you tills, stuff like that.

2. I currently use LILO as my boot loader, and it works fine but i am aware you can boot up in this rather cool frame buffer mode where you get a cool little penguin at the top, and since it is a laptop this would help because then i could boot in full screen rather than letterbox: i'm asking if i can do frame buffer mode in LILO and how or if someone know how i can do this in GRUB and boot in frame buffer, i know how to re-install/switch the boot loader but i don't know how to get frame buffer mode, also i would prefer some one told me how to do this in GRUB because then i can have background image and make it look super hackery, scary and cool!

With a Frugal install, most of the packages in the DSL repository are made to load properly just by adding them with the myDSL button after you download them. There are ways to make them persistant, which is discussed in the "Getting Started" page that opens when you first boot DSL.
Frame buffer mode is entered by following the directions in the f2 and f3 menus. You can make your choices permanent with lilo or grup by adding the choice that works best for you on the line in that boot loader's configuration file that runs those codes when you boot up.  for example, in the grub menu.lst you would add dsl vga=788 for 800x600 16 bit frame buffer mode.

Thanks, that's kinda helpful, i'll try the GRUB bit, but with the packages, as i said i did a HD install, so in theory installed to the HD as debian so shouldn't i just be able to install the packages normally or get them all from the net using the upgrade button in the flux menu???   ???
