DSL is great, I have to say :D apparently it's only using about 20mb of my RAM!

I'm currently running it on a VMWare virtual machine, with a 5gb hd (VMWare is much quicker than Qemu, and VMWare Player is free, yay), on it's own user on Windows, with realtime priority. It's nearly as fast as it'd be running natively, even without VMWare Tools!

I have some questions. I downloaded XFree86 so I could play Cube and Quake and Sauerbraten amongst other OpenGL games. Problem is, i'm not sure how to save the edited version of .xserverrc in Vim :\ and when I create a XF86Config-4 file, it doesn't stay. Do I have to be logged in as root to save the XF86Config-4 file??

And, does anyone know how to get sound working on VMWare? It says the soundcard doesn't exist on Linux, since mine is being emulated...

One last thing...the version of gtk you can download off of myDSL is corrupt, I think. It keeps coming up with a "Download or Checksum error!" message just before finishing.

Aww, I've already managed to screw up DSL. I downloaded and setup XFree86...at first it worked fine, but now it says there are no screens. Do I need the nvidia drivers?

I had the same problem. I forgot to rename my XF86Config-4 file. Instead it was the name copied out of the folder of sample files that came with xfree86 - somehting like XF86-Config-4_ati_generic rename to XF86Config-4 fixed it.
