I have installed several Linux distros using a boot CD....the latest was Damn Small Linux. I did a "frugal" install successfully and ended up with a GRUB loader
arrangement.
Now, I can no longer get "past" the boot from /dev/hda1/ where the DSL was placed as part of the install...that is I have another "live" ISO CD....and unlike any previous occassions.....it won't boot at startup time. I try editing the boot command string when GRUB starts...trying to change from /dev/hda1 to /dev/scd0/ etc. but nothing works...it may sense that the CDROM ISO is not DSL I don't know.
Does anyone know how I can get the boot sequence back to using the CD as the 1st boot order device ??

Grub can't affect your bios boot order, it's only loaded in the mbr of the hard disk. Check that your bios is set to boot the cdrom first. Then if possiable check to see if the cd your using is actually good(try another computer) or try another cd. Your bios will only skip the cdrom if it is set that way or the cd your using is not bootable. Grub has nothing to do with your boot order..
