Hello,

I wonder if it is possible to install a DSL on a very small hard disk (64 MB) and a ram of 128 MB.

DSL boots well from CDROM. I just copied the directories /boot and /KNOPPIX from /cdrom to /dev/hdc1.

I don't know how can I make a hard disk bootable. I tried to start syslinux, but got the following error:
"This doesn't look as a FAT filesystem"

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Regards
Misha

here a little how to

1. run dsl from your cd rom without copying anything on your hd;
2. once dsl is up and running, right click in order to get the menu, choose then Apps-->Tools-->Frugal Install-->Frgual Grub Install (I like it much than Lilo);
3. follow the lines in the xterm; when it asks where you want dsl to be installed, tip hda1; it installs dsl on 50 MB space on your hd;
4. reboot;
5. enjoy.

Look at the forum in order to learn what is a frugal install, why it is one of the most used install procedure, how you can edit grub in order to modify the parameters at boot, how to optimize your use of dsl according to your ram etc.

z.

edit: in order to know how to format your hd properly, look at cfdisk in the forum or init 2

Ok, now it works well!

The next problem is: how to preserve my networking settings after reboot?

Thanks
